For many years workplace
innovation has been a fundamental concern of the private sector.
The underlying driver has been the need to seek efficiencies in the
cost of occupancy: capital cost, fit-out cost and operational
cost. But the private sector has also discovered a rich
overlay to this familiar story - that of harnessing workplace
to play a strategic role in supporting and indeed catalysing
organisational and cultural change. This has generated an entirely
new lexicon in the context of workplace -
engagement, empowerment, choice and diversity. At the same
time a rich vein of opportunity in the context of workplace
sustainability has been tapped.
Where does the public
sector sit in this regard? What are the opportunities and
obligations of government to be proactive, if not trend setting,
in workplace innovation? CoreNet Global offers a
unique insight to the potential for workplace innovation in the
government sector with highly-respected speakers from two
organisations that have pushed the boundaries:
Kevin will
speak on current programs and research within the US Government. He
is presenting Workshop 8on Tuesday morning
1 July in Sydney at the Sheraton on the Park at CoreNet's
Sydney 2008 Summit. Kevin is a
consistently highly-rated speaker who has presented at many CoreNet
events globally.
Sue will review that
firm'sground-breaking work with UK Government,
which has culminated in the UK Office of Government
Commercepublication "Working without Walls"
and its soon-to be-released sequel "Working beyond
Walls".
This Forum
will provide a fascinating insight into the drivers for change
in government workplace, the strategies that can be adopted to
embrace them and the value of the outcomes that they generate.
How have these changes been achieved? What has been the reaction of
the people? What have been the benefits? What will a "next
generation" government workplace look like?"
This Forum is CoreNet's first-ever event in Canberra. CoreNet is
progressively broadening its relationships with Commonwealth, State
and Local Government, and is interested in establishing a
Networking Group in Canberra to increase the sharing of
knowledge between CoreNet and Commonwealth Government Departments.
Please contact CoreNet's Region Director, Peter Chenoweth, if you
are interested in serving on the Networking Group Executive
Committee. The peer-elected Chair of that to-be-established
Committee will be offered an immediate seat on CoreNet's Region
Council.
The usual Non-Member registration fee of $88 has been waived for
this event. However, you still need to register please.
